They agree that the antidepressants shown an overall decrease in the symptoms of depression in comparison to placebo. However, these improvements are not found to be very meaningful, but for the patients facing severe depression. This research was not taken on the basis of trials and further studies were done and they did not state that antidepressants do not work and show no effect. However, it does exhibit that the drugs differ from one level to another and the symptom also vary. Doctors comprehend the severity and recommend antidepressants as the right option. The professors and researchers have come to a conclusion that antidepressants don’t work alone and it has to be associated with appropriate diet as well as exercise. Physical exercise, self help books and various other forms of relaxation in association with the antidepressant drug helps in reducing the seriousness of depression. On the whole, antidepressants also exhibit improved symptoms than the placebo. This was statistically significant. Though, doctors prescribe antidepressants, many are not convinced. This is because they expect immediate relief and any antidepressant takes at least a week to show some effect. Moreover, all the antidepressants are sure to show some side effects. The moment the side effects are more, patients try to stop it and start declaring that the antidepressant do not work. Antidepressants work only when they are taken in continuity as per the prescription. You should not increase or decrease the course of medicine at your own convenience. You should not also stop it abruptly as your body cannot take it. You should reduce it gradually so that the antidepressants do not exhibit side effects. There are many antidepressants available in the market, yet without proper consultation, it is not recommended to avail these medications.
